In Malawi over 200,000 children a year are affected by Burkitt's Lymphoma, an extremely aggressive tumerous cancer which can double it's size in 24 hours if left untreated, therefore making a quick diagnosis of up-most importance. Although this cancer was first recognised in sub Saharan Africa, an increasing number of people are being diagnosed in the west.
The documentary follows Stephanie Hampton, whose son died of this cancer in the UK, to Malawi in a quest to understand more about the disease.
We follow the story of 4 children in Malawi, some of whom are being treated by western medicine and others by 'witch doctors' and traditional Malawian 'medicine men'.
The film examines the procedure followed by both practises and serves not only as a document of this little known cancer, but also as an educational tool for doctors around the world.
